Welcome to RSI
Serving our community and the environment since 1971

Our Mission

Recycling Services understands the critical need to educate the public and to create a market for recycled products.

Our vision is to become a community-based, self-contained recycling center. RSI has made a moral decision to provide an educational program that is essential to life itself.

We strive to provide a center where recycling will create new products from old ones, and to preserve the rich heritage of the earth for future generations through other projects including organic farming, renewable resources and land preservation.

2010 Membership Drive Starting

Dear Friends:

As recycling is a process of constant re-invention, the nature in reuse of society's waste will also reflect many issues of the times: the need for affordable qualified labor, out of control insurance costs... the list goes on.  At this time of year I often wonder the point of our efforts.  Too few thank you's & too many demands; today I got a check in the mail for $35 & bills totaling over $8000.  So, instead of going on, I'll just give the information,  our supporting membership goal is $75,000.  Our total budget this year is just over $200,000.  There are several changes, please note, we will be cutting out Tuesday collection from Jan 5 to March 16.  This to save money as these are the slowest times & staff costs must be reduced.  We also have a membership meeting scheduled for Dec. 5 here at RSI starting at 1:30, please bring ideas & questions or feel free to submit them to me by mail or e-mail.
Several projects being considered for spring include promotion of co-housing & more community-based manufacturing, using recycled materials & running off renewable energy.  We're also still looking for folks interested in serving on safety & education committees.

Thanks for your continued interest & support & best wishes for a wonderful holiday season & new year.

Jim Crater, pres., Recycling Services, Inc.

Gate fee increase!

The new gate fee is $8 per car.  For the past few years, $8 has been the average per-car cost to process materials and run the center.  We've managed to keep the fee below this for a number of years by supplementing our income with fundraisers.  Unfortunately, that is no longer enough.  Thank you for your understanding, and your continued support of recycling and environmental awareness!
